Luka Prijatelj

Luka Prijatelj (1988, Ljubljana) represents the younger generation of artists working in the field of photography. He graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana and completed his Master’s degree in photography at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. In his work, he is intensively engaged in researching the photographic medium through various approaches. He is particularly interested in photographic practices which avoid superficial readings of the photographic referent. His current research focuses on photography in its most elementary form, in relation to the historically significant moment of photography’s conception, i.e. time when the photographic language had not yet been fully formulated. His work has been presented in several group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including CLIPP Award 2016 (The Perth Centre for Photography, Perth, Australia, 2016), Prepih, Peter Rauch – Paviljon (MSUM, Ljubljana, 2017), Prekleti dež (Mala galerija Banke Slovenije, Ljubljana, 2019), Sled / Trace (DLUL, Ljubljana, 2020), OFF Grid Festival (Vienna, Austria, 2022).
